In 2011, InshaAllah, I will:
InsyaAllah.
syik:
* pray all my salat, including sunnah, on time.
One is rewarded for doing it (sunnah) and deserves blame for leaving it without excuse. It is sinful to persistently leave it.
The Prophet (saw) said “The five set prayers may be compared to a stream of fresh water flowing in front of your house, into which you plunge five times each day. Do you think that you would leave any dirt on your body?” When they replied: none at all, the Prophet (saw) said “Indeed the five prayers remove sins just as water removes dirt.”
* put aside a set amount of time each day to read the Quran.
Whether it’s 5 minutes or 5 pages, set a goal and stick to it. Make sure you complete this minimum goal every day, and if you have time, read some more. Don’t just read, understand the messages Allah (swt) is delivering to us through the Quran.
* praise people behind their backs and if I have something to say about someone, I will say it to their face.
A person with even a single drop of pride will not enter Jannah, and backbiting is compared to eating the dead flesh of a brother.
* learn to be more patient and try to control my anger.
Shaitan takes advantage of us when our emotions are unstable. Anger is a negative emotion that causes us to say or do things we may not mean and will later regret. The Prophet (saw) said that the stronger person is the one who remains quiet. It’s easy to get moody, but takes a great deal of character to refrain.
* increase my faith and trust in Allah when facing hard times, but also in times of ease.
Say Alhamdulillah even when our duas are not answered, Allah knows what is best for us.
“Remember Allah in times of ease, and He will remember you in times of distress. What hit you could not have missed you, what missed you could not have hit you. Remember that victory comes with patience, relief comes with affliction and ease comes with hardship.”
* do something to help the less fortunate.
raise money, donate clothes, provide books for the less educated.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Save yourself from hellfire by giving even half a date-fruit in charity.” - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 49
* say Alhamdulillah more often.
there is a lot to be thankful for, even if you have nothing - you have Islam, and that is all that matters.
this is someone else’s resolution. if i may reblog this…im reblogging this only because i would want to achieve the same for myself.
